Lymphangitis

LYMPHANGITIS is an infection of the lymph vessels that carry lymphatic fluid throughout the body.

Causes of Lymphangitis

Bacterial infections are the most common cause of lymphangitis, which can happen through punctured wounds, untreated skin infections, insect bites and fungal skin infections.

Signs that you have Lymphangitis

  • Red streaks on any area of the body
  • Redness and warmth
  • Increase in the swelling of the limb
  • Recent wound that is not healing feeling sick or weak.
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Headache
  • Low energy and loss of appetite
  • Swelling near an injury or the groin or armpits.

Treatment for LYMPHANGITIS

  • Discontinue massages
  • IV antibiotics
  • A Culture of the injured site and course of antibiotics thereby.
  • Applying warm compresses to the injury and areas with red streaks
  • Using anti-inflammatory medications
  • Pain relievers
